These Pittsburgh runners ran as a team to support ARDF!

Do you want to help the worldwide church but believe your meager resources won’t do anything? You might be surprised that there are ways you can help, as a group from Pittsburgh proved. These young adults banded together to run the 2017 Pittsburgh marathon in order to raise money for an ARDF project in Malaysia.

As we have written before, this project will complete a church in Malaysia, a country where Christians remain in the minority. The total cost of the project is $73,000. Now thanks to the runners and other donations, this project is nearly half funded!

We worship and give thanks to the Lord Almighty for all the good things that we have received, and to Lord Jesus Christ who has always been on our side. — Peter Swen Awan, 57, and a lay reader

It is easier to raise money than you think. Doing something you love along with friends is a great way to support ARDF. In the past, people have run, kayaked, even feasted to raise support and awareness for various ARDF causes.

Are you celebrating a big birthday or anniversary? Instead of cards, ask your friends and family to support a favorite ARDF project. We have plenty to choose from, with focuses that range from agriculture to education.

When you band together, your efforts are multiplied. And people around the world learn about Jesus through the “boots on the ground” efforts of leaders empowered by the local church.

I think most of the people who are not believers will really see that the church is meeting not only the spiritual needs – which I came to do – but also the physical need. I believe that will also result in a peace building as that is an area that has been dominated by tribal conflict as you are hearing. And I am hoping that we will use this project to bring communities together for talking about health water sanitation, about cleanliness. But then we will also talk about peace. – Bishop Moses, Wau, South Sudan

Again Jesus said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”

– Mark 4:30-32 (NIV)
